NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2012/ — Closing her Spring 2013 catwalk show with her iconic cartwheels and splits, it is hard to believe that Betsey Johnson is celebrating her 70th birthday.
Betsey Johnson started the label in 1978 and her commitment to remain true to her one-of-a-kind vision has afforded continued success in the fashion industry for more than 30 years.
Starting in 2004, the Betsey Johnson label expanded as a lifestyle brand with the introduction of intimates, handbags and leather goods, footwear, watches, jewelry, eyewear, swimwear, legwear, outerwear, luggage, and fragrance.
Today the distribution is in over 2,000 specialty boutiques and an established wholesale business in both domestic and international markets.
Yesterday, the packed house was a clear sign the Betsey Johnson is here to stay. “The success of Betsey Johnson has already surpassed our expectations and continues to keep growing,” says Ed Rosenfeld, CEO of Steve Madden.
Models dressed in Betsey, from both past and present, rounded out their looks with makeup by Gato for Maybelline New York, hair by Jon Reyman for Aveda and nails by imPRESS nails.
Guests enjoyed treats such as, signature Betsey cupcakes served by Baked by Melissa, Godiva chocolate and sipped on sparkling rosé served by Martini. The grand finale of the show included a custom designed cake from Carlo’s Bakery.
