PARIS, Nov 28, 2009 / — In the lofty world of haute couture, innovation is the name of the game and Franck Sorbier found a game changer – instead of selling his creations in the atelier, he wields the auctioneer’s gavel.
This groundbreaking take on haute couture started with a traditional encounter, a Swiss woman falls in love with Franck’s work and supports him. In July 2009, she contacts a famous Parisian auctioneer. Go gone gone ! The auction is booked, the appointment made with Drouot for January the 28th, Salle 9 at 14H30 P M.
Closing time of the Haute Couture spring/summer 2010 Haute Couture fashion week, the Couturier Franck Sorbier will put up for auction on January 28th 39 unique designs and 35 authentic drawings. Driven by Maitre Millon and his expert : Françoise Sternbach, the auction will take place in the Drouot hotel in Paris.
Following the exhibition « Fashion, heart and soul » organized in Lyon’s Museum of Fabrics in March 2009, the auction will thus include some designs exhibited then. With Maitre Million, the auction becomes the translation of a unique world : unique Haute Couture designs, original drawings…each and every piece of work is a chapter of Sorbier’s creative story.
Once more, traditional and innovative techniques mingle to create the characteristic style of the house. Designs from the Haute Couture spring/summer 2009 show in the « Haute Couture is to change, so what ? » film displayed at the Balzac cinema last January will be in auction with recent Haute Couture fall/winter 2010 figures.
On January 23rd and 24th the Intercontinental Grand Hotel will welcome all the designs and drawings, in an exclusive preview.
