On January 15, 2020, as part of Berlin Fashion Week, DSTM presented a showcase in a groundbreaking collaboration of DSTM by Canadian born Jen Gilpin—in celebration of the brand’s ten-year anniversary— and the Siciliano Contemporary Ballet dancers, choreographer by Salvatore Siciliano, and the live music of EMIKA, an English electronic musician of Czech origin currently residing in Berlin.

DSTM’s stylish, sexy, and high-performance body wear was elegantly displayed in a tableau of living geometry: a dance number choreographed by Salvatore Siciliano the director of the Siciliano Contemporary Ballet set to the atmospheric live piano music of Emika, long-time ambassador and supporter of the brand.

DSTM body wear was presented along with the label’s own accessories and outerwear. This includes an array of knitwear and kimono-style robes that are both street-wear fashionable and loungewear-comfortable, as well as gloves, fringe pieces that celebrate the body’s movement, and pieces from the Shibari series—custom leather harnesses all handmade in DSTM’s Berlin studio.

“We wanted to celebrate ten years by showing the longevity of our pieces, that our first designs still look just as sexy and current as our most recent, which is critical to DSTM’s message of sustainability,” says designer Jen Gilpin. “With the dancers we wanted to emphasize our range; these pieces will flatter and fit every shape and size—from every angle.”

The brand’s core color message is the always cool and timelessly chic signature color of Berlin: black. But its trademark blue will also make an appearance. Gilpin is dedicated to sourcing the most cutting-edge performance materials and designing her pieces to embody the trifecta of style, support, and sustainability.

All DSTM prototypes are developed in Berlin using the highest quality materials from Italy. The brand also works closely with their production team in Europe to ensure that all pieces are luxury quality with a conscience.

“Our customers appreciate the geometric artistry of our pieces and their thoughtful, durable construction,” Gilpin says. “Each piece is an artwork designed to complement the body and meld harmoniously into a endless creative recombination’s – an ever-evolving second skin.”

With comfort in mind, Gilpin has perfected her wireless bra design to be both stylish and supportive, while making sure that each new introduction to the DSTM family blends seamlessly with previous collections, ensuring that brand supporters can count on a wardrobe of long-lasting pieces that layer into increasingly avant-garde looks.

The showcase highlights the painstaking balance of sleek, sexy design and functional innovation that marks DSTM’s collections, celebrating the research and development that Gilpin has personally invested over the ten years of her brand—a decade of accomplishment that promises even more for its future.
