Dolce & Gabbana – Icons in Fashion

Dolce & Gabbana is a relatively recent brand compared to other fashion houses. The design house originated in 1985 in Legano, Italy. The story of this brand began when Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana met each other in 1982. The two designers worked for Italian fashion designer Giorgio Corregiari and started to collaborate.

The two designers combined forces to create their famous brand, Dolce & Gabbana. They started with women’s wear in the 1980s and by 1990, they released their first perfume. By the 1990s, they added men’s fashions to their collection. Today, they dress some of the top celebrities and produce fashion, beauty products and perfumes.

Alta Moda History

Dolce & Gabbana began branding their high fashion couture shows with the Alta Moda line in 2012. Over the past few years, they have produced artistic visions showcasing their couture looks in various venues. For 2024, the Alta Moda show will be presented in Milan’s Palazzo.

Last year’s Alta Moda exhibit was staged in Puglia. The show featured traditional elements from the Puglia area and focused on craftsmanship and innovation. Dolce’s hometown, Sicily was featured in the 2022 exhibit. For the 10th anniversary of Alta Moda, the designers produced a spectacle that evoked Italian opera and whimsical fantasy.

Details About the Palazzo’s Exhibition

The neoclassical Palazzo Reale di Milano is this year’s setting for the Alta Moda exhibition. Milan’s Palazzo is a hub for art exhibits and Italian culture. The Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda show looks to gather inspiration from this regal setting and its history.

The Palazzo is located in Milan’s historic center in the Piazza del Duomo. The building became the court home of Milan’s royal leaders starting in the 1500s. After devastating fires in the 1700s, the Palazzo was rebuilt and refurnished to its current footprint.

The Experience

Starting April 7th, the Palazzo will be transformed into a hub for the Dolce & Gabbana couture looks and vision. As with previous Alta Moda shows, spectators will be dazzled and wowed with fashion, art, music and other media related to the story behind the iconic fashion brand. This year’s show promises to bring together all of the elements that make Italian fashion memorable, such as opera, art, music, food and rich fabrics.

Worldwide Tour

The Alta Moda exhibit will be a dedication to the fashion house’s process from design concept to fully constructed look. It will showcase Dolce & Gabbana’s story from the fashion plate on paper to the runway. After the exhibition closes in July, the show will then go on the road for a worldwide tour.

Dolce & Gabbana continues to produce shows and fashions that elevate Italian culture. At this year’s Alta Moda show, they will continue this tradition and put Milan at the front of center of the fashion world.
