NEW YORK, Jan 7, 2015/ — With New York always foremost on her mind, designer Donna Karan proclaimed that fashionistas should “paint the town with urban chic.”
With that as a battle cry, the Spring 2015 collection was conceived, and in turn, it also shaped the label’s Spring 2015 campaign.
Shot by PeterLindbergh and featuring model, Andreea Diaconu, the campaign brought New York center stage with the energy and art for which the city is known as the main theme.
Romanian ingenue, Andreea Diaconu is photographed against a backdrop of bold brush strokes – black, white, red and grey -recalling the city’s gritty streets, endlessly throbbing with motion, pulsing with creativity and thrumming with the 8 million stories of its natives.
While the collection and images are a return to New York, so too is the photographer, Peter Lindbergh. A longtime friend and collaborator of Karan’s, Lindbergh has photographed 15 ad campaigns for the brand, beginning in 1992.
Karan summed it up with “New York is my palette, my passion, my fuel; a culture that empowers creativity.” Spring 2015 pays homage to the city, the sentiment and “the art of the streets.”
