While most of us are wondering what to wear for the Christmas party, the cognoscenti are already thinking six months ahead with the presentation of the Calvin Klein Collection womenswear Pre-Fall 2016 collection on December 8th.
Francisco Costa, Women’s Creative Director for Calvin Klein Collection, evoked a minimal yet sensuous feeling for Pre-Fall 2016. Inspired by the works of English artist and sculptor Barbara Hepworth, the collection was play between the masculine and the feminine.
A 21st century interpretation of Victor/Victoria, Mr. Costa began that approach in his Spring 2016 collection where he deconstructed and reconstructed oversized silhouettes and hourglass shapes with an emphasis in tailoring.
For Pre-Fall 2016, outerwear is key, with standout pieces including printed leather shearling and patent leather duffle coats. The collection’s warmth and softness is expressed in an array of lightweight cashmeres and silk viscose fabrics, and is grounded by substantial leathers, shearlings and wool.
A palette of caramel, grey mélange, black and cognac is complemented by a natural photographic leopard print. Looks were completed with sneakers and pumps in black or white, soft leather clutches and handbags in black or camel, and sculptural jewelry pieces that Mr. Costa collaborated with artist David Croland to create.
