The much awaited collaboration between luxury houses Vivienne Westwood & Burberry is finally here. The collection takes on punk and heritage, rebellion and tradition, the past and the future as Westwood returns to her legendary archive and re-envisions it in the iconic Burberry check.
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something,” Burberry’s new chief creative officer, Riccardo Tisci, said in a press release. “She is a rebel, a punk and unrivaled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.”
Kate Moss appears in the David Sims-shot campaign for the collection, wearing the oversized collar silk twill shirt.
Aside from joining two of the most storied British fashion brands, the collaboration serves another purpose: to support Cool Earth, a UK-based non-profit organization that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and climate change. The slogan shirt, below, shows support via a hand-written message from Vivienne Westwood saying, “Cool Earth has a plan to save the rainforest.”
As expected, the historic collection is luxury priced, with prices ranging from $70 to $1,590. You can shop the items now on Burberry’s online store.
